This past Thursday @ 10pm I caught an episode of "The Presidents" on History Channel, but it took a while for me to backcheck that online using the most common search strategies.

I propose that History (a property of A&E Networks) should look into some SEO. If you own a business or consider yourself marketed and dont know what that stands for, Ill likely have a hard time finding you on Google too. G.g.g.g.g.unit!

All that said, "The Presidents" on History straight up ruled. I hadnt a clue about Herbert Hoover, but now I do. Learning is fun. Check for it in reruns, rerun.

In other cable news, you can now get your time out on your time. Time Warner of NY is carrying Time Out New York on demand. The content can be improved, but the plan is on point.

What else?

Whether its blimps crashing into lightposts or people getting trampled for bargains on Black Friday, excitement is a given during Thanksgiving. Me, I look for solitude, so during the week I bundled up and walked over to Chelsea to do the gallery thing. One thing I enjoyed was "The Painted Word" exhibit at Stellan Holm.

Any show with works from Basquiat, Warhol, Richard Prince and Jeff Koons is almost guaranteed to be good. This small collection of pieces scratched the surface of a very interesting subject. I also really liked Keith Haring's "The 1982 Color Book Drawings" at Briggs Robinson.

The Kanye backlash surfaces in Toronto, found on Wooster Collective

Powers to the People

signs, sneakers, walls, freights, baked goods, trucks, books, shirts, roller coasters, stickers, perfume bottles, magazines, boxes, advertisements, comics, coats, museums and galleries, stephen powers words are covering the world.

easily one of the most enjoyable artists around, espo uses humor, warm colors and iconic objects accompanied by bold type in consistently clever executions. he posesses a healthy disrespect for artistic boundaries across a vaiety of media, but consistently utilizes advertising as a artistic device. its this negotiation between commercial persuasion and art that ultimately powers the espo experience.

this weekend i saw his work on the 'Superfeen' truck outside the flea market on Wooster and at aLife where they are selling his recent tshirt collabrartion with irak (# 1 in the hood, g). 'the art of getting over' is a top 10 graffiti book, and his new book out with random house builds on the ouch project work he did for tylenol.

powers put 'street art' back in the gallery with reas and twist in 2000's incredible street market exhibit at deitch. his civic project, the dreamlands artists club produced some public work that is truly memorable...and March's deitch project bakery at the 2005 armory show was tasty. really. the brass knuckle cookie I bought didnt taste half bad.

International Zone Coaster

In my dreams I rode on the back of a shopping cart through the Yo! MTV Raps video library and collected my favorites from the golden age of hip hop.

So when I found "Search Music Videos" on MTV Overdrive I grabbed for a soft pillow to take with me on the ride:

Honestly, I went to Overdrive looking for Laguna Beach clips, but what I found was what any video junkie would call a big score. The only problem is all the videos are just not available in the library. Yet...

Throwback Jawn

"The beat is sinister Preemo makes you relax, Im like the minister, when I be lacing the wax"
-Guru

Does this lyric have anything to do with the image? Not really. But Preemo is kinda short for Supreme (not just Premier), so there it is.

A stretch, but nevertheless, the above garb represents a cross section of one of my favorite styles from the early nineties and one of the freshest brands around today. So respect the architects, and acknowledge the goodness on Lafayette.
