We Are Not What We Dream, We Are What We Do

The Flaming Lips new album has a hard time living up to the standard set by its predecessors, but its fun just the same.
In all fairness, The bar was raised pretty high with The Soft Bulletin and Yoshimi. And, at this point the Lips are a band that need to be seen live to be fully appreciated.
Which is doable all summer long.
The latest news on Wayne and the crew is that they will be touring with NYC's favorite sons (and daughter) Sonic Youth throughout August. Perhaps even more exciting to SPIDER ROLL is next week's Bend Oregon opener, Stephen Malkmus and the Jicks.
But if you cant make it in person for the baloons, blood and streamers spectacle that is a Flaming Lips show, look out for them on reruns of PBS excellent Austin City Limits (and a great cover of War Pigs with special guest Chan Marshall/Cat Power).

5ive

...they met in the basement bar of a hotel in DC two years before. It was a cool cavern, underneath a hotel with an old staircase and an older bellhop- with a menu to impress, but service less than impressive...life. But it was important to Rob, because sometimes concentrating on little things made the bigger things fade into the background for a little while. And that night, choosing the right drink was what mattered...

Kick Start

Anyway, Ill probably not buy another pair of kicks for a month or so, but I saw these steps on the interweb (to use EZ Elz wordplay) and thought twice. Then again, I'm not sure I'll ever rock velcro again.
Nevertheless, there is nothing like revisiting 80's slick shit Tron after ingesting psychadelic drugs. I did it my sophomore year of college during one of those long cold Ann Arbor winters. Tron man...and I'm not talking about Dave Chapelle's character.
